A busy couple of weeks!

Wow! what a busy couple of weeks, tinged with concern, hope, prayers and wishes.

Little Mikey had a regular scan a few weeks ago and it looks like he will have to be operated on again, medical teams main concern is the cancer may be back.

I spent a couple of days fell walking in the Lake District and a few more days in London on a course.

Aerobathon 2008

Due to my 6 year old Grandsons cancer treatment we have decided to put this years Aerobathon on hold and to do something a little more special at a later date.  

Cheeky chappie is doing just fine. He  recovered well from his ten hour surgery to remove  almost all of the tumour and a minor op a few weeks after to help drain his body from a build up of fluid, he is now waiting to recieve radiotherapy to kill any remaining cancerous cells.

The chosen charity has to be Great Ormond Street, words cannot express our gratitude to all who work there.

I do hope (reader) that you will support us in our very special fund raising event.

Catch Up

Wow it's been a while since I have been here!    Apologies all but it is has been a roller coaster of events since my grandson was diagnosed with cancer, his operation to remove the tumour has been postponed three times now, you cannot imagine the mixed  emotions you go through to prepare yourself for it then it does not happen, part relief but then concern as to when the next operation date gets closer.  He is doing OK,  his strength of character pulls us all through, after each batch of chemo we all wait for a week or so before it kicks in and his blood count and immune system begin to deplete and we hope he is strong enough to pull through, which he has been doing.  This last stint of chemo has been more aggressive and his little body is taking a while to recover but I'm relieved to say yet again he is showing us his strength and is pulling through, he has one more chemo treatment to go and then the operation to remove what is left, as the treatment so far is shrinking the cancer cells, which is great news, but we still have a long way to go.

I would like to take this time again to say a big thank you to all that have been supporting us through this awful time, the little lad has had so many gifts its been like Christmas for him time and time again and it has helped him greatly as it takes his mind from his symptoms. THANK YOU from all of us to all of you X

Going Through a Rough Time

Apologies to those that have wondered why I have had to close the Practice for the last few weeks, and a big thankyou to those that have sent gifts, cards and messages during this hellish time that myself and my family are going through right now.

My 5 year old Grandson, a lively and cheeky little boy has recently been diagnosed with cancer, a shock to all of us, he is at present undergoing chemo. I cannot write much more  as you can imagine, it is very emotional.

Give your children a big hug everyday and tell them how much you love them!

Take a pill to lose weight?

Have you seen the headlines recently? The kind of news that all Personal Trainers, Gyms, Fitness Instructors etc. cringe at? We can now take a pill to lose weight. It was only a matter of time I suppose. What about the side effects? Would it give us the feel good factor experienced with exercise? Would we have to continue popping this pill for the rest of our life? Will we eat even more? How much will it cost? Who will have access to it? So many questions to be answered and l suspect will only be answered (truthfully ) after a few desperate people have been taking it for a number of years. All we have to do to lose weight is, eat less do more. Cynical? Maybe.

Exercise Myths

There is a vast amount of exercise information coming to us at every conceivable angle along with many myths, leaving the consumer thoroughly confused.  Everywhere you look you will find exercise information.  It can come in fitness magazines, the beauty salon, your co-workers, the Internet, and infomercials.

You will see snappy headlines such as, “Lose 10 Pounds in a Week with No Exercise at All!”, and “Melt Pounds without Dieting.”  These marketing ploys don’t end.  They will use any tactic to get you to buy their product.
