From hula hoops to pole dancing, fitness fads may come and go, but for a no - hassle way to tone up, lose weight and get fit, it's hard to beat the simplest exercise there is: putting one foot in front of the other. No need to join a class, splash out on equipment, or pull daft moves in public: just put on your shoes, and your ready for the off.
'It's a great form of exercise, because almost everyone can do it,' says personal trainer Kelly Cullen, who's devised our walking programme. 'It doesn't matter what age or body type you are, or wether the last exercise you took was the PE class at school - if you can walk, you can get fit. It's especially good if you're pear shaped, because it helps make your legs more defined without bulking them up.'
