When it comes to making changes to your body, both aesthetically and in terms of health, support plays a HUGE role in achieving your goals.
Without support, the journey can feel like your hiking up a hill in heels...almost impossible and very uncomfortable!
With this in mind, here’s how you can be a great Fitness Camp Friend...
Don’t
- Tempt me; if you want to eat things that aren’t part of my plan, that’s cool, but please don’t offer it to me or badger me to eat/drink it with you
- Let me skive. It’s imperative that I get to at least 3 sessions per week, so please encourage me to do it, instead of distract me- even kick me out of bed to make sure I get there
- Tell me I look fine as I am; I’m flattered you think so, but I’m not happy with my body/health as it is now so I want to make a change to make ME feel better
- Tell me I’m doing it all wrong. I’m using a proven method, and I won’t be forcing it on you so please don’t force yours on me :-)
Do
- Support me in the decisions I make. For example, if I don’t want to drink alcohol on a night out, just say ‘that’s cool’
- Tell me you’re proud of me for taking charge of my health
- Praise me when I achieve my goals; even the small things, like managing not to give in to temptation when eating out
- Encourage me. Tell me that I CAN do it!
- Remind me of my goal on a regular basis to help stay me stay on track
Thank you, I really appreciate your support, it means a lot to me Katie Bulmer-Cooke
